BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Lau is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopaedics & Traumatology at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and an intercalated Bachelor of Science degree in Orthopaedic Science from University College London. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, the Hong Kong College of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine.
Dr. Lau is a paediatric orthopaedic specialist whose research focuses on Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis (AIS) and paediatric bone health. His work integrates clinical trials, advanced imaging, and translational science to improve early detection, risk stratification, and personalized treatment strategies for paediatric spinal deformities. He leads several competitive research projects as Principal Investigator, including the prestigious Basic Science Research Grant jointly awarded by the Scoliosis Research Society and Fondation Yves Cotrel – Institut de France.
His academic contributions have been recognized locally and internationally through numerous distinctions:

Dr. Lau has published peer-reviewed research in leading international journals and contributes to the academic community as a regular reviewer for major journals, as well as serving on organising and scientific committees for international conferences. Committed to education and community service, Dr. Lau teaches medical and postgraduate students, supervises PhD candidates, and actively promotes bone and spine health among children and adolescents. He has represented Hong Kong internationally as an ambassador for the Hong Kong Orthopaedic Association and is currently the Hong Kong Chapter Delegate to the Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Association.
