Sports Medicine Collaboration Journey in Shanghai, Jiaxing & Hangzhou

CUHK Sports Medicine team is honoured to have been invited by Sports Medicine and Sports Science Association of Hong Kong, China (HKASMSS) to visit Shanghai, Jiaxing and Hangzhou in July. Led by Prof. Patrick Yung, the team had the opportunity to meet with esteemed institutions such as Shanghai University of Sport, Shanghai Administration of Sports, the Second Hospital of Jiaxing, and Sports Medicine Institute of Fudan University, and also participated in the Asian Federation of Sports Medicine (AFSM) Summit 2023. This trip was a wonderful experience filled with knowledge exchange and productive collaborations for the present and future of sports medicine.

 
 
 

 
 

 
 
 


International Symposium on Advanced Technology and 3D Printing in Orthopaedics & Workshop – Application of 3D Printing in Orthopaedics

A two-day international event titled “International Symposium on Advanced Technology and 3D Printing in Orthopaedics & Workshop – Application of 3D Printing in Orthopaedics” was successfully organized on 2023 September 09-10.


More than 180 participants attended the international symposium. 10 international well know speakers delivered excellent talks with great feedbacks and questions from the floor. 40 participants attended the 3D printing workshop. International speaker was invited for demonstration on the new functions and technique for prosthesis design and surgery planning, while local speakers delivered talks and demonstrations on clinical cases application.


The event was supported by the Professional Services Advancement Support Scheme (PASS) and the Hong Kong Automation Technology Council under the Federation of Hong Kong Industries.

 
 
 

 
 

 
 
 


CUHK Sports Medicine Team stands behind Hong Kong athletes at Chengdu FISU World University Games

The FISU World University Games recently took place in Chengdu, with Team Hong Kong sending over 140 student-athletes to compete in various sports. To support our athletes, a dedicated CUHK Sports Medicine Team was formed, consisting of doctors, physiotherapists, and sports trainers. Throughout the event, the medical team provided a range of services including consultations, injury management, recovery care, and on-field support. We are thrilled to announce that Team Hong Kong achieved its best-ever medal haul at the Games, bringing home a total of 12 medals - four gold, one silver, and seven bronze.

 
 
 

 
 

 
 
 


3rd Croucher Summer Course on Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine

The Croucher foundation summer course 2023 sponsored by Croucher Foundation on “Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine” was held from 17 to 21 July 2023 in the Prince of Wales Hospital, Shatin, Hong Kong. This year, we have 5 invited oversea speakers, including Prof. Richard Oreffo from the University of Southampton, UK; Prof. Regis O’keefe from Washington University at St. Louis, USA; Prof. Ling Qin from University of Pennsylvania (UPenn), USA; Prof. Hong Zhou from the University of Sydney, Australia; and Prof. Hongwei Ouyang from Zhejiang University, China. We also have 3 internal speakers from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), including Prof. Stephen Dalton, Prof. Ling Qin, and Prof. Gang Li.


There are over 50 people attended the course, and 31 people are registered as formal participants. Among them, 1 student from Korea; 2 students from Malaysia; 1 student from Macau; 16 students from mainland; other 11 participants are local students from CUHK and the HKUST.


The course has successfully concluded after 5-days intense seminars and workshops. And the organizing committee led by Prof. Gang Li has received overwhelming positive feedbacks from many participants and faculty speakers. This course probably inspired some young scientists to get into the research field of stem cell biology and regenerative medicine.

 
 
 

 
 

 
 
 


2nd International Conference on Fragility Fracture (ICFF):
Bridging the Care for Osteoporotic Fractures

A 1.5-day international event titled “2nd International Conference on Fragility Fracture (ICFF): Bridging the Care for Osteoporotic Fractures” was successfully organized on 2023 September 2-3.


More than 200 participants attended the online international symposium.10 international well know speakers delivered excellent talks with great feedback and questions from the floor to provide the knowledge of healthcare professionals (including doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists) on fragility fractures and updates.


The event was supported by Fragility Fracture Network Hong Kong SAR.
